In Ontario, a Safety Standards Certificate (SSC) is legally required whenever you register a rebuilt motor vehicle, transfer ownership of a used vehicle privately, or register an out-of-province vehicle in Ontario.

An Ontario Safety Standards Certificate (SSC) is valid for exactly 36 calendar days from the date of issue. The vehicle ownership transfer at ServiceOntario must occur within this 36-day window.

What happens if my vehicle fails the inspection? +

If your vehicle fails, you have 10 calendar days to complete the required repairs and return to our shop for a free re-inspection of the failed components.
